Henley Royal Regatta 2019

In July Henley Royal Regatta was in progress involving about 660 competing crews, many from abroad.

The event reflected the peace regatta of 1919. Of 27 trophies awarded, Brooks University Oxford, New Zealand, and Leander Club all took FOUR, showing, their dominance of the rowing scene this year.

Many members of City Barge were privileged to be able to watch the action from Caroline’s two balconies overlooking the course. Many thanks to Caroline.

Afterwards many of the same crews battled it out against each other at the world cup in Rotterdam.

Alex lent the club his large sandolo “Sior Checo”, and Tim towed it all the way to Henley, launched it, and recovered it. On Thursday of the regatta the women took “Sir Checo” for an outing, visited Caroline at her flat at the end of the course, and picnicked on the booms.
